By now you have probably been thinking: “Now that summer is here, what can my children do that would be active and fun while learning something new?” Well, at Studio “FUN” we have just the thing – a weaving party! Weaving is something that has been around for many years, but our approach is unique. At Studio “FUN” everyone is an artist. Recently, there has been an upsurge of interest in handicrafts. Among the many opportunities out there, weaving is not only hands-on but also a chance to do something that is different. People are amazed at how easy it is. At a weaving party, kids ages 7 and up weave for two hours and bring home either a scarf, a table runner, a decoration for their dresser or a unique woven work that displays their inherent creativity as a wall hanging. Our weaving style provides an opportunity to weave “however you like” so it is easy and relaxing. Children pick their own colors and take advantage of a style that allows freedom and creativity, something so necessary in the dynamic world of today. Children already possess everything necessary to become SAORI weaving artists: playful attitudes, ability to explore and joy! We provide the opportunity to put these assets into practice. Parties range from two hours to two and a half hours depending on the style. The studio provides everything you will need for weaving. You are welcome to come and weave for two hours and then continue the birthday celebration at another location, or bring along snacks and open presents while serving cupcakes and juice after weaving. There are eight looms, so parties currently consist of a maximum of eight weavers. Prices are based on two hours of weaving (for the number of weavers) and the additional half hour is added for a nominal fee. Extending the time is possible based on availability. We provide a valuable resource for children to learn something “FUN” year round and are open this summer for the first time. Studio “FUN” is located in Chaska, Minnesota at 1475 Meadow Lane, and is easy to access from Highway 7, Highway 5, Highway 169 and Highway 212.
