History
Family
Times Publications was founded by Marci Mannis in February 1991 with
the premiere edition of Family Times. With a starting circulation
of 25,000, Family Times grew to a circulation of 50,000 in its first
year, and now averages overall circulation of 60,000 per issue. In
1993, Baby Times, a biannual publication directed toward pregnant
and new mothers and fathers was born. In September of 1994, a third
publication was created – Senior Times, a quarterly magazine
directed to the 50 plus market, now called Best of Times. Finally, Mannis added a new feature
to Family Times in 1996, a special insert entitled Grandparent Times.
All four publications were conceived and developed
by Marci Mannis, publisher. Ms. Mannis has a background in publishing
and TV broadcasting. With a core staff of six women, our family
of publications has grown to be the largest circulation monthly
parenting publications in the Upper Midwest, with the following:•

restaurants, Baby’s R Us Superstores, movie theaters and more

Over 850 locations in the Twin Cities metro area, plus constant
solicitation of new distribution sites, forming exclusive partnerships
with key retailers
Mission
Family Times
provides comprehensive parenting information through its feature
stories, editorials and columns, plus a wide variety of entertainment
options for the entire family.
Best of Times reaches the 50 plus adult market with health, lifestyle,
financial, and housing information, resources and entertainment
options.
Baby Times
provides essential information for new parents and parents-to-be,
including current prenatal class listings and resources.
Grandparent
Times, a special insert in Family Times, provides information to
the emerging grandparenting market of baby boomers.
Awards
Since 1994, the Circulation Verification
Council, a nationwide publication audit and marketing firm, has
named Family Times as Best Publication in America – Specialty
Publications category. Senior Times and Baby Times have also been
named in this category since 1995. Family Times was also selected
for Best Cover Design for 1998. The contest “Best Publication
in America” involved over 950 CVC member-audited publications
from the 48 states with a combined circulation of over 25 million
editions among all CVC member publications. The contest rules allow
daily, weekly and monthly newspapers, shoppers, TMC’s, specialty
publications and interactive media to compete with each other in
18 contest categories.
